CPUC explains the point of the smart grid

On May 6 the California Public Utilities Commission issued its proposed rules on the privacy and accessibility of consumers’ energy information, as well as how third parties should protect energy consumer data privacy.

In this draft decision (see page 21) the CPUC gives a clear, concise statement of the goals of the smart grid, for California and other places that experience hot summer weather…
