Smart meter router: Belkin beats Cisco to the punch

For some time, I have been predicting that the wi-fi router makers would build a router that incorporates ZigBee, the radio built into most smart meters to link to in-home and in-premise devices.  Today, Belkin announced its Conserve Gateway router that does exactly this, seamlessly linking ZigBee-based home area appliance networks (HANs) with existing home computer networks using wi-fi.
